Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**PG50** is an experimentally defined, bioactive 50% aqueous methanol fraction prepared from leaves of *Pelargonium graveolens*. It is a chemically heterogeneous botanical extract containing tentatively annotated flavonoids, phenolic acids, coumarins, phenolic glycosides, and dicarboxylic acids. In a published preclinical study, PG50 inhibited monoamine oxidase B in vitro and showed neuroprotective effects following oral administration in a rotenone-induced rat model of Parkinson's disease, including improvements in motor performance, brain monoamine levels, oxidative-stress markers, inflammatory markers, alpha-synuclein levels, mitochondrial enzyme activity, and substantia nigra histopathology. PG50 is not an approved pharmaceutical product and has no assigned INN or marketed brand name.
