Overview

PGN-OB1 is a preclinical peptide candidate developed by Biora Therapeutics for the treatment of obesity. It is a leptin analog designed to mimic the signaling of the hormone leptin, which regulates appetite and metabolism by binding to the leptin receptor in the hypothalamus. The drug is delivered using Biora's proprietary BioJet platform, an ingestible capsule designed to deliver large molecules directly into the small intestine wall via liquid jet injection, bypassing the degradation typically associated with oral administration. Preclinical studies in porcine (swine) models have evaluated its systemic bioavailability and potential for weight management, demonstrating the platform's ability to deliver therapeutic peptides orally.
