Overview

pGx9501 is a DNA vaccine candidate developed by Advaccine Biopharmaceuticals in collaboration with the Sichuan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine utilizes a plasmid DNA vector to deliver the genetic sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein into host cells, where the protein is expressed to elicit both neutralizing antibodies and T-cell mediated immune responses. It has been investigated in Phase I and II clinical trials, including studies evaluating its safety and immunogenicity as a heterologous booster dose in individuals previously immunized with inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.
