Overview

PH050 is a small molecule inhibitor of Methionine Adenosyltransferase 2A (MAT2A) being developed by Suzhou Puzheng Pharma (also known as Puhe Biopharma) for the treatment of solid tumors. MAT2A is the enzyme responsible for the synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM), the primary methyl donor in cells. In cancer cells harboring methylthioadenosine phosphorylase (MTAP) deletion, inhibition of MAT2A leads to a reduction in SAM levels, which selectively impairs the growth of these cells through a synthetic lethal mechanism. PH050 is currently in the preclinical stage of development and is categorized within the company's synthetic lethality drug pipeline.
