Overview

Phagerus is a proprietary bacteriophage-based platform technology developed by iNtRON Biotechnology for the creation of antiviral vaccines and therapeutics. The platform employs a specialized CRISPR/Cas system to genetically engineer bacteriophages, allowing them to display viral antigens or virus-like particles (VLPs) on their capsids. These modified phages are designed to trigger both humoral (antibody-mediated) and cell-mediated immune responses against specific viral targets, such as the influenza virus. Phagerus-based products are intended for non-invasive administration via oral or nasal routes, leveraging the natural stability and bacterial-targeting properties of phages to enhance vaccine delivery and efficacy. Unlike traditional phage therapy which targets bacterial infections, Phagerus focuses on inducing immunity against viral pathogens while maintaining the original infectivity and bacterial control functions of the bacteriophage vector.
