Overview
Phagyo is a bacteriophage cocktail developed by the Georgian company Biochimpharm. It is a therapeutic biologic designed to target and lyse several common pathogenic bacteria, specifically *Staphylococcus*, *Streptococcus*, *Escherichia coli*, *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, and *Proteus*. The mechanism of action involves the selective infection of these bacterial hosts by specific phages, which replicate within the bacteria and ultimately cause cell lysis. Phagyo is approved in Georgia for the treatment and prevention of various purulent-inflammatory diseases, including otorhinolaryngeal (ear, nose, and throat), respiratory tract, and urogenital infections. It is also utilized in surgical settings for the treatment of burns and infected wounds.
