Overview

Phallus indusiatus aqueous extract is a natural product derived from the bamboo mushroom (*Phallus indusiatus*), an edible fungus traditionally used in Asian medicine. The extract is rich in bioactive polysaccharides and has been investigated in preclinical research for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties. In oncology research, it has been shown to induce apoptosis in breast cancer cells (such as MCF-7) by inhibiting the NF-kappaB and Akt signaling pathways, particularly within inflammatory tumor microenvironments. Additionally, it exhibits anti-melanogenic effects by inhibiting tyrosinase and promotes wound healing by stimulating collagen production through the modulation of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2). It is currently utilized as a research tool and a potential lead for cosmeceutical and therapeutic development rather than as a commercial pharmaceutical product.
