Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pharmaton is a standardized multivitamin and mineral supplement characterized by the inclusion of standardized Panax ginseng extract G115 and deanol (2-dimethylaminoethanol). Originally developed by Pharmaton SA and later managed by Boehringer Ingelheim and Sanofi, it is indicated for the relief of daily fatigue, exhaustion, and the improvement of mental and physical performance. The deanol component acts as a precursor to acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter essential for cognitive functions such as concentration and memory. The G115 ginseng extract acts as an adaptogen, helping the body manage stress by modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and improving cellular energy utilization. While many modern formulations of Pharmaton (such as Pharmaton Vitality) have removed deanol to comply with changing dietary supplement regulations in various regions, the deanol-containing version remains a recognized medicinal product in numerous international markets.
