Overview

PHC (polyphenol-rich fractions) is a combination of extracts derived from commonly consumed spices (Allium sativum L, Zingiber officinale R, Curcuma longa L) and herbs (Terminalia arjuna W & A, Cyperus rotundus L). It is being investigated for its anti-atherosclerotic activity, primarily by inhibiting lipid-laden macrophage foam cell formation and modulating various signaling pathways involved in atherogenesis. PHC has demonstrated the ability to attenuate the expression of CD36, p-FAK, and PPAR-γ, suppress NK-κB-DNA interaction, and reduce the expression of TNF-α, MMP9, and MMP2, while also enhancing macrophage migration.
