phelimin

Phelimin is an orally administered, non-absorbed phenylalanine-binding polymer developed by Mipsalus ApS for the treatment of phenylketonuria (PKU). The drug acts as a gastrointestinal sequestrant, specifically binding dietary phenylalanine within the gut to prevent its absorption into the systemic circulation. By reducing the uptake of phenylalanine from food, phelimin aims to lower blood phenylalanine levels, potentially allowing PKU patients to manage their condition with a less restrictive diet. It is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation in healthy volunteers and adults with classical PKU to assess safety, tolerability, and pharmacodynamics.
