Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PHEN09 is a bispecific monoclonal antibody designed to simultaneously neutralize platelet-derived growth factor subunit B (PDGF-B) and platelet-derived growth factor subunit D (PDGF-D). Developed by Chugai Pharmabody Research and Chugai Pharmaceutical, PHEN09 targets the PDGF signaling pathway, which plays a central role in mesenchymal cell activation, fibroblast and mesangial cell proliferation, and subsequent renal fibrosis and functional decline. In preclinical models of chronic kidney disease (CKD), including unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) mouse models, Thy-1-induced mesangial proliferative rat models, and Col4a3 knockout mice, PHEN09 has demonstrated potent inhibition of PDGFRβ activation and cell proliferation, leading to significantly attenuated renal interstitial fibrosis, reduced glomerulosclerosis, and preserved kidney function.
