It belongs to the phenazine-1-carboxamide chemical class, which is known for potent antitumor activity. The drug's mechanism of action involves intercalating into DNA and inhibiting DNA topoisomerase II, thereby preventing DNA replication and inducing cell death in cancerous tissues.
