Pheniprazine is an irreversible and nonselective monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) of the hydrazine chemical class. It was used as an antidepressant in the 1960s and also for treating schizophrenia and angina pectoris. However, it was discontinued due to liver toxicity and optic neuritis.
