Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Faracillin is an oral formulation of phenoxymethylpenicillin benzathine (Penicillin V Benzathine), a narrow-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic developed by Farabi. It is used for the treatment of mild to moderate bacterial infections susceptible to penicillin, such as streptococcal pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and skin infections. Phenoxymethylpenicillin benzathine acts by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) in the bacterial cell wall, thereby inhibiting peptidoglycan synthesis and leading to bacterial cell lysis and death.
