Philips Zoom in-office whitening gel is a professional-strength dental bleaching product developed by Philips for the treatment of tooth discoloration. The formulation contains 25% hydrogen peroxide as the primary active ingredient, which functions by releasing oxygen molecules that penetrate tooth enamel and dentin to oxidize and break down organic chromogens (stains). To mitigate common side effects such as dentinal hypersensitivity and to promote enamel health, the gel is enriched with amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP), potassium nitrate, and sodium fluoride. The treatment protocol typically involves three 15-minute sessions where the gel is light-activated using the Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed blue LED lamp. Clinical evaluations, including studies at the University of Zurich, have investigated the biological and physical effects of this bleaching protocol on tooth structure and pulp vitality.
