Overview

GRASTEK (phleum pratense pollen) is a standardized allergenic extract administered as a sublingual tablet for the treatment of grass pollen-induced allergic rhinitis, with or without conjunctivitis. Developed by ALK-Abello in partnership with Merck, it contains a standardized extract of Timothy grass (*Phleum pratense*) pollen. The drug functions as an allergen immunotherapy, which aims to induce immunological tolerance by repeatedly exposing the patient to the allergen. This process modulates the IgE-mediated immune response, shifting the balance toward a T-regulatory cell response and increasing allergen-specific IgG4 antibodies. It is indicated for patients aged 5 to 65 years who have a confirmed sensitivity to Timothy grass or cross-reactive grass pollens.
