Alutard grass pollen (marketed under the brand name Alutard SQ Phleum pratense) is an aluminum hydroxide-adsorbed, depot allergen immunotherapy vaccine derived from *Phleum pratense* (timothy grass pollen), developed and manufactured by ALK-Abelló. It is indicated for the treatment of IgE-mediated allergic rhinitis and allergic rhinoconjunctivitis in patients sensitized to grass pollen. The vaccine works by gradually desensitizing the immune system to grass pollen allergens, shifting the immune response from a Th2-dominated allergic pathway to a Th1/regulatory T-cell (Treg) response, which reduces allergen-specific IgE and increases blocking IgG4 antibodies. While traditionally administered via subcutaneous injection (SCIT), it has also been investigated in clinical trials (such as a Phase 3 trial by HagaZiekenhuis) via a novel intralymphatic/intranodal route of administration to improve efficacy and convenience.
