Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Phleum pratense pollen extract enriched is an allergen immunotherapy (AIT) developed by Inmunotek S.L. for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and allergic asthma triggered by Timothy grass pollen. The product consists of a polymerized allergen extract (allergoid) of *Phleum pratense*, modified with glutaraldehyde to reduce IgE-mediated side effects while maintaining the ability to induce T-cell tolerance. The "enriched" formulation specifically ensures high and standardized concentrations of major allergens, particularly Phl p 1 and Phl p 5, which are critical for therapeutic efficacy. By exposing the immune system to these modified allergens, the drug promotes a shift from a Th2-dominated allergic response to a Th1 and regulatory T-cell (Treg) profile, alongside the induction of allergen-specific IgG4 blocking antibodies that compete with IgE for allergen binding.
