Phosphoaminophosphonic acid–adenylate ester (AMP-PNP or ANP) is a synthetic small molecule that acts as a non-hydrolysable analog of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). In this compound, the oxygen atom bridging the beta and gamma phosphate groups of ATP is replaced by a nitrogen atom. This modification renders it resistant to hydrolysis by ATPases. As such, it functions as a potent competitive inhibitor of both soluble and membrane-bound mitochondrial ATPase enzymes and inhibits other ATP-dependent reactions involved in oxidative phosphorylation. AMP-PNP is widely used in biochemical research to study enzyme mechanisms involving ATP hydrolysis and energy transfer within cells[1][7][9]. It has no approved pharmaceutical indications or clinical use.
