Overview

PhosphoLean is a dietary supplement ingredient complex composed of N-oleoyl-phosphatidylethanolamine (NOPE) and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). It is primarily marketed for weight management and the treatment of obesity. The mechanism of action involves the conversion of NOPE into oleoylethanolamide (OEA), an endogenous lipid mediator that activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha) to promote satiety and reduce food intake. EGCG, a polyphenol derived from green tea, complements this effect by inhibiting catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), thereby prolonging the activity of norepinephrine and enhancing thermogenesis and fat oxidation. Clinical studies have suggested that the combination may improve compliance with low-calorie diets and support weight loss by modulating appetite and energy expenditure.
