Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**PhotoDOX** is a preclinical, light-activated liposomal formulation of **doxorubicin** in long-circulating porphyrin-phospholipid liposomes. The porphyrin-phospholipid component acts as a photosensitizing lipid within the liposome bilayer; following intravenous administration, 665-nm laser illumination of the tumor promotes photodynamic activity and rapid localized doxorubicin release, increasing drug deposition and tumor ablation while aiming to limit systemic exposure. POP Biotechnologies is developing the product for interstitial chemophototherapy of locally advanced liver cancer and has also listed a breast-cancer chemophototherapy program.
