Overview

PHT001 is a tumor-specific fluorescent imaging agent developed by Amsterdam UMC for use in fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP-NENs). It consists of the somatostatin analog [Tyr3]octreotate (TATE) conjugated to the near-infrared (NIR) fluorophore IRDye 800CW. PHT001 targets somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2), which is highly overexpressed in the majority of GEP-NENs. Administered as a single intravenous bolus prior to surgery, the tracer accumulates in SSTR2-positive tumor tissues, allowing surgeons to visualize tumor margins, lymph node metastases, and occult lesions in real-time using NIR fluorescence imaging systems. This approach is intended to improve surgical precision and the completeness of tumor resection in patients with neuroendocrine tumors.
