Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PHTPP is a synthetic, nonsteroidal small molecule that acts as a highly selective antagonist of the estrogen receptor beta (ERβ), exhibiting approximately 36-fold selectivity for ERβ over estrogen receptor alpha (ERα)[2][3][5][7]. As a silent antagonist, it binds ERβ and blocks its functions in cellular assays and animal models, making it a valuable research tool for dissecting ERβ-specific biological processes and signaling pathways. Developed primarily as a research compound, PHTPP is not approved for human or veterinary use and is used exclusively in laboratory settings to investigate the role of ERβ in endocrinology, cancer, and neurobiology[3][5].
