PHV02 is a live, recombinant vaccine candidate designed to protect against Nipah virus infection. It utilizes a vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) vector in which the gene for the VSV glycoprotein is replaced by the Zaire ebolavirus glycoprotein (EBOV GP), and additionally expresses the Nipah virus (NiV) attachment glycoprotein G. This chimeric construction enables the vaccine to induce an immune response targeting both Ebola and Nipah viruses, with neutralizing antibodies against NiV considered a key mediator of protection. The vaccine is administered as an intramuscular injection and has demonstrated rapid onset of protective immunity in animal models. PHV02 is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials for Henipavirus infections, including Nipah virus infection[2][4][5][7].
