Phylex SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine is a second-generation COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by Phylex BioSciences. The vaccine utilizes a proprietary mRNA self-assembling nanoparticle technology, where the mRNA sequence encodes a protein that spontaneously forms a nanoparticle displaying 60 copies of the SARS-CoV-2 receptor binding domain (RBD). This multivalent display is designed to mimic the virus's geometry and symmetry, potentially eliciting more potent and durable neutralizing antibody responses compared to first-generation mRNA vaccines. Preclinical data, generated in collaboration with the Pasteur Institute and the University of Bern, showed robust protection against variants of concern, including Delta and Omicron, in transgenic mouse models. The candidate is currently in preclinical development.
