Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Physiogel AI Lotion and Physiogel Lotion are dermatological emollients designed to restore the skin's lipid barrier and alleviate symptoms of dry, sensitive, and reactive skin, such as atopic dermatitis. Both products utilize BioMimic Technology, which incorporates physiological lipids (including ceramides and squalane) that mimic the skin's natural structure to repair the moisture barrier and prevent transepidermal water loss. The "AI" (Anti-Irritant) version specifically includes Palmitamide MEA (PEA), a fatty acid amide that acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic agent by targeting pathways involved in skin sensitivity, notably through the activation of PPAR-alpha. Originally developed by Stiefel Laboratories and later owned by GSK, the brand was acquired by LG Household & Health Care in 2020. These lotions are frequently used as adjunctive therapy for eczema and other inflammatory skin conditions to reduce the need for topical corticosteroids.
