Overview
Physiogel balanced is an intravenous infusion solution primarily used as a plasma substitute and volume expander. It is composed of succinylated gelatin and a balanced electrolyte solution including sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride dihydrate, magnesium chloride hexahydrate, and sodium acetate trihydrate. The drug is indicated for the treatment of hypovolemia and shock, as well as for the prevention of hypotension during regional anesthesia or in situations involving significant blood loss during surgical procedures. Its formulation, which is lactate-free and contains acetate as a bicarbonate precursor, allows for the correction of acidosis and makes it suitable for patients with hepatic impairment. It functions by restoring lost fluid volume in both the intravascular and extravascular compartments, thereby supporting hemodynamic stability.
