Physiolyte

Physiolyte is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, isotonic multi-electrolyte irrigating solution developed and marketed by B. Braun Medical for general irrigation, washing, and rinsing procedures that permit use of a physiological electrolyte solution. It is an FDA-marketed NDA product and contains magnesium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium acetate, sodium chloride, and sodium gluconate in a balanced formulation intended to approximate physiologic electrolyte composition at the site of use. The product is not for injection; its clinical utility is as a local irrigation solution for wound cleansing, surgical site irrigation, and related rinsing applications where tissue-compatible hydration and electrolyte balance are desired rather than receptor-specific pharmacology.
