Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination product containing five active ingredients: - **Phytomenadione (Vitamin K1):** A fat-soluble vitamin essential for the synthesis of clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X in the liver. It is used to treat or prevent bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency or anticoagulant overdose. Its mechanism involves acting as a cofactor for γ-carboxylase, enabling activation of coagulation factors[1][3][4]. - **Furosemide:** A loop diuretic that inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle, leading to increased urine output and reduction in fluid overload. - **Spironolactone:** An aldosterone antagonist (potassium-sparing diuretic) that acts on distal renal tubules to promote sodium excretion while conserving potassium. - **Silymarin:** An extract from milk thistle with antioxidant and hepatoprotective properties. It scavenges free radicals and modulates enzymes involved in cellular damage, fibrosis, and cirrhosis; it is commonly used as supportive therapy for liver diseases[6][8][10]. - **Albumin:** A plasma protein used intravenously to restore blood volume or maintain oncotic pressure during hypoalbuminemia. This combination may be intended for use in patients with complex conditions such as advanced liver disease (e.g., cirrhosis with ascites), where there are needs for correction of coagulopathy (vitamin K deficiency), management of fluid overload (diuretics), hepatic protection/support (silymarin), and plasma volume expansion/oncotic support (albumin). However, no standard pharmaceutical product combining all these agents exists; this appears to be a compounded or protocol-based regimen rather than an approved fixed-dose combination.
