Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Phytosoya is a standardized soy isoflavone extract developed by Laboratoires Arkopharma, specifically formulated to manage symptoms associated with climacteric syndrome (menopause). The product contains a specific profile of isoflavones, primarily genistein and daidzein, which are naturally occurring phytoestrogens. These compounds function as selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs), exhibiting a higher binding affinity for estrogen receptor beta (ER-beta) compared to estrogen receptor alpha (ER-alpha). By mimicking the effects of estrogen in a tissue-selective manner, Phytosoya helps reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes and other vasomotor symptoms. Clinical research, including long-term safety studies, has demonstrated that the 70 mg daily dose of this specific extract does not significantly increase endometrial thickness or breast density in postmenopausal women, addressing common safety concerns associated with hormone replacement therapies.
