Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Phytus is a botanical combination product containing extracts of Ivy (Hedera helix), Thyme (Thymus vulgaris), and Cisti (Cistus incanus), developed by PharmEvo for the treatment of acute cough. The therapeutic effect is derived from the synergistic actions of its components: Ivy extract provides secretolytic and bronchospasmolytic activity, primarily by inhibiting the internalization of Beta-2 adrenergic receptors; Thyme extract offers antitussive, secretomotor, and antimicrobial properties; and Cistus extract contributes antiviral and antioxidant effects. Phytus is typically administered orally as a solution and has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials to demonstrate its efficacy in reducing the severity and duration of cough symptoms associated with respiratory infections.
