PIA0601 + pPJV2012 is a combination DNA vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of influenza. PIA0601 is a trivalent DNA plasmid vaccine encoding hemagglutinin (HA) from three different influenza strains. pPJV2012 (also known as DEI-LT) is a plasmid encoding a double-mutant form of the heat-labile enterotoxin from *Escherichia coli*, which serves as a genetic adjuvant to enhance the immune response. The vaccine is administered using Particle Mediated Epidermal Delivery (PMED), a needle-free technology that delivers DNA-coated gold microparticles directly into the epidermis. This approach was originally developed by PowderMed (later acquired by Pfizer) and was evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity.
