Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pic-D3 is a branded generic formulation of cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) marketed by Healthon Lifesciences, an Indian pharmaceutical company. Cholecalciferol is a fat-soluble vitamin that serves as a precursor to the active hormone calcitriol. It functions by binding to and activating the Vitamin D receptor (VDR) in the intestines, kidneys, and bones, thereby increasing the efficiency of intestinal calcium and phosphorus absorption. This process is critical for maintaining serum calcium levels and supporting bone mineralization. Pic-D3 is primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin D deficiency, as well as an adjunct in the management of osteoporosis and osteomalacia.
