Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Picot is an over-the-counter effervescent antacid brand containing citric acid and sodium bicarbonate granules that are dissolved in water to relieve heartburn, sour stomach, acid indigestion, and upset stomach associated with these symptoms.[2][3] Upon dissolution, sodium bicarbonate reacts with citric acid to produce sodium citrate, carbon dioxide, and water, rapidly neutralizing excess gastric hydrochloric acid and increasing intragastric pH to alleviate dyspeptic symptoms.[2][3] The product is marketed primarily in Latin American and U.S. Hispanic markets, where it is sold in single-dose sachets for oral use, and is labeled with standard antacid warnings regarding sodium load, drug–drug interactions, and limited duration of self-treatment.[2][3]
