Overview

PID23 is an innovative in vivo chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy being developed by Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University. Unlike traditional ex vivo CAR-T therapies that require complex manufacturing of a patient's cells outside the body, PID23 utilizes a viral vector delivered directly into the patient via intravenous injection. This vector encodes three distinct targets: B-lymphocyte antigen CD19 (CD19), B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), and CD70. Once administered, the viral vector transduces the patient's own T cells in vivo, enabling them to generate functional CAR-T cells that recognize and eliminate leukemia cells expressing these antigens. PID23 is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute leukemia.
