Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pidimol-MF is an oral suspension (syrup) formulation containing a combination of mefenamic acid and paracetamol (acetaminophen). Developed and marketed by Octave Life Sciences, it is primarily used as an analgesic and antipyretic to relieve mild to moderate pain, inflammation, and fever, particularly in pediatric patients. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins. Paracetamol acts as a centrally-mediated analgesic and antipyretic, complementing the peripheral anti-inflammatory action of mefenamic acid. Together, they provide synergistic relief from fever, headaches, toothaches, muscle aches, and post-vaccination discomfort.
