Overview

PiggyBac CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T-cell is a type of adoptive cell therapy that utilizes genetically engineered T lymphocytes. These T-cells are modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specifically designed to target the CD19 protein, which is commonly found on the surface of B-cells, including malignant B-cells. The genetic modification is achieved using the *piggyBac* transposon system, a non-viral method for gene transfer, which offers a potentially less complex and more economical alternative to traditional viral vectors. Preclinical studies and early clinical reports suggest that *piggyBac*-generated CAR T-cells exhibit potent activity against B-cell malignancies. This approach may also lead to a favorable memory-rich T-cell phenotype, which is associated with enhanced persistence and long-term functionality of the CAR T-cells.
