Overview
Pigmerise is a specialized topical compounding vehicle developed by Fagron for the treatment of vitiligo and other skin depigmentation disorders. It is formulated as a liposomal cream containing a high concentration of phytocomplexes derived from *Piper nigrum* (black pepper) fruit extract. The vehicle is designed to stimulate the proliferation and dendricity of melanocytes in the basal layer of the epidermis, thereby promoting repigmentation. While it can be used as a standalone topical application, Pigmerise is primarily intended to serve as a pharmaceutical base for compounding personalized medications. It is frequently used by pharmacists to incorporate active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) such as corticosteroids or calcineurin inhibitors, enhancing their delivery and therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of leukoderma.
