Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PIKA COVID-19 vaccine is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate for the prevention of COVID-19. It uses a proprietary PIKA adjuvant to enhance immune responses against the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein. The mechanism of action involves stimulating robust humoral and cellular immunity, leading to increased production of neutralizing antibodies that block viral entry by targeting the S protein's interaction with human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2). The vaccine has demonstrated safety and strong immunogenicity as both a primary series and booster dose in clinical trials, including durable protection against multiple variants such as Omicron. Developed by YS Biopharma and its subsidiaries, it is currently in Phase III clinical trials in several countries[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
