Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**PIKA rabies vaccine** is an investigational, freeze-dried human rabies vaccine based on inactivated and purified rabies virus antigen and LakeShore Biopharma's proprietary PIKA adjuvant. PIKA is a polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid-based immunomodulatory adjuvant designed to stimulate the Toll-like receptor 3 pathway and enhance innate immune activation, thereby accelerating development of rabies virus-neutralizing antibody responses. The program has completed Phase I and Phase II studies and advanced into a pivotal Phase III program evaluating a 7-day post-exposure prophylaxis schedule; LakeShore subsequently initiated a biologics license application submission in Pakistan for conditional approval for rabies post-exposure prophylaxis.
