Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PIKA rabies vaccine (Vero cell) is an investigational, next-generation adjuvanted rabies vaccine developed by LakeShore Biopharma (formerly YS Biopharma / Yisheng Biopharma) for the prevention of rabies virus infection, including post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). The vaccine incorporates LakeShore's proprietary PIKA adjuvant, a synthetic double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) analog that acts as a Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) agonist. By activating TLR3, the vaccine stimulates innate immune cells (such as dendritic cells, macrophages, and natural killer cells) and enhances antigen cross-presentation, leading to a rapid and robust production of rabies virus-neutralizing antibodies (RVNA) and T-cell responses. This accelerated immunogenicity is designed to support a shortened, three-visit, one-week vaccination regimen (on days 0, 3, and 7) compared to the standard four-to-five-week regimens of conventional vaccines.
