Pim-2 shRNA is a short hairpin RNA designed to silence the expression of the **Pim-2** proto-oncogene, a member of the proviral insertion site in Moloney murine leukemia virus (Pim) family of serine/threonine kinases. Pim-2 is known to be aberrantly expressed in various malignancies, including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), where it promotes cell survival and proliferation by phosphorylating downstream targets like 4EBP-1 and inhibiting apoptosis. By delivering shRNA specific to the Pim-2 sequence, researchers can induce the degradation of Pim-2 mRNA via the RNA interference (RNAi) machinery, effectively knocking down protein levels. Preclinical studies, such as those conducted by North Carolina Central University and Jasco Pharmaceuticals, have demonstrated that Pim-2 shRNA can significantly decrease cell viability and anchorage-independent growth in pancreatic cancer models, validating Pim-2 as a potential therapeutic target.
