Pim-3 shRNA is a short hairpin RNA designed to silence the expression of the Pim-3 kinase, a member of the proviral integration site for Moloney murine leukemia virus (Pim) family of serine/threonine kinases. Pim-3 is often aberrantly expressed in solid tumors, including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), where it contributes to cell survival and chemoresistance. By targeting Pim-3 mRNA for degradation via the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, this shRNA inhibits cell growth, induces cell cycle arrest in the G1 or S phase, and promotes apoptosis. Furthermore, downregulation of Pim-3 has been shown to sensitize pancreatic cancer cells to gemcitabine treatment, potentially by reducing the activity of multidrug resistance protein 1 (MDR1).
