Overview

Pine pollen polysaccharides are bioactive polysaccharide compounds extracted from the pollen of pine trees (genus *Pinus*), particularly Masson pine. They are water-soluble, hydrophilic, and viscous macromolecules composed of repetitive sugar units linked by glycosidic bonds. Pine pollen polysaccharides are noted for their **immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, hypoglycemic, and antibacterial properties**[3][1][4]. In vitro and in vivo studies indicate that these compounds enhance immune function, accelerate wound healing, inhibit cancer cell proliferation, and provide hepatoprotective, antiviral, and metabolic regulation effects[1][3][4]. The mechanism of action includes modulation of immune cell activity (e.g., T lymphocytes, macrophage polarization), promotion of angiogenesis, facilitation of wound re-epithelialization, and reduction of neutrophil extracellular traps. They are under investigation for therapeutic uses in conditions such as diabetes mellitus (wound healing), cancer, viral infections, hyperlipidemia, and prostate diseases[3][4].
