Overview

Pinellia exosomes are plant-derived extracellular vesicles extracted from the Chinese herb *Pinellia ternata*. These exosomes function as a nano-therapeutic agent that targets both lung cancer cells and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) within the tumor microenvironment. Their primary mechanism of action involves the simultaneous inhibition of multiple serine synthesis-related genes, including PHGDH (phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase), PSAT1 (phosphoserine aminotransferase 1), and PSPH (phosphoserine phosphatase). By suppressing these enzymes, Pinellia exosomes promote the polarization of macrophages toward the anti-tumor M1 phenotype and directly inhibit the proliferation of lung cancer cells, particularly those with high metabolic reliance on the serine synthesis pathway.
