Overview

Ping On Ointment is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) topical analgesic ointment developed and manufactured by the Ping On Ointment company in Hong Kong. It is formulated with a blend of aromatic oils and active ingredients including menthol, camphor, eucalyptus oil, and methyl salicylate. The ointment is primarily used for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with simple backache, arthritis, strains, bruises, and sprains. It has also been investigated in clinical trials for the relief of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and masticatory muscle pain. The mechanism of action involves the counter-irritant and cooling effects of its volatile components, which stimulate sensory receptors to provide a localized analgesic effect.
