Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pingchuan Guben decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation primarily investigated for the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). It is typically administered as an oral decoction, often in combination with conventional Western medicine. The formulation is designed to exert therapeutic effects by modulating systemic inflammation and protease molecules. Mechanistically, it has been shown to activate the Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1) / nuclear factor-E2-related factor-2 (Nrf2) signaling pathway, which enhances antioxidant defenses and reduces oxidative stress. Clinical studies indicate that it significantly improves lung function parameters such as FEV1 and FVC, as well as exercise capacity (6-minute walking distance) in COPD patients.
