Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pinggan Huoxue Patch is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) topical formulation primarily developed for the treatment of essential hypertension. It is designed to be applied to specific acupoints, most commonly the Yongquan point (KI1) on the soles of the feet, to facilitate the transdermal absorption of its botanical constituents. The formulation is based on the TCM principles of calming the liver (Pinggan) and promoting blood circulation (Huoxue) to address patterns of Liver Yang hyperactivity and blood stasis. Clinical research, particularly at the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, has evaluated the patch as an adjunctive therapy to conventional antihypertensive medications, aiming to improve blood pressure control and alleviate associated symptoms such as dizziness and headache.
