Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pingwei San (平胃散) is a classic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula used for over 1,000 years to address digestive disorders associated with "dampness" in the spleen and stomach according to TCM theory. The canonical formulation contains Atractylodes rhizome (Cang Zhu), Magnolia bark (Hou Po), Tangerine peel (Chen Pi), Licorice root (Gan Cao), Fresh ginger (Sheng Jiang), and Jujube fruit (Da Zao). It is designed to dry dampness, strengthen the spleen's transporting function, promote movement of Qi, harmonize the stomach, and relieve symptoms such as abdominal distension or fullness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, belching/regurgitation of sour fluid, heavy sensation in the body or limbs, lassitude with desire for bed rest and loose stools. In modern terms it is used as a complementary therapy for chronic gastritis and other gastrointestinal complaints[1][2][3][5][7].
