Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pingxiao is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, most commonly administered as the Pingxiao capsule (PXC), used as an adjuvant therapy for various malignancies including breast, lung, and gastrointestinal cancers. It is composed of eight primary ingredients: *Curcuma phaeocaulis*, *Strychnos nux-vomica*, *Prunus persica*, *Alum*, *Nitrum*, *Resina Draconis*, *Aurantii Fructus*, and *Cinnabaris*. Pingxiao is characterized by its ability to induce apoptosis in cancer cells, inhibit tumor growth and metastasis, and modulate the immune response. In clinical practice, it is frequently combined with conventional chemotherapy or radiotherapy to enhance therapeutic efficacy and reduce treatment-induced toxicities, such as neutropenia. It is approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China.
